Pipes and Contractions

Well my husband is finally getting his butt in gear on the remodeling project again. The shower and tub drains are done, the sink and toilet are almost done (just the vents left). Then it will be time for the water supply. This is an old house so a lot of the current pipe had to be replaced - from cutting off a portion of the main stack (cast iron) to replacing the galvanized steel water supply pipes - probably with plastic - it’s just too hard to work with copper.

Old houses are an amusing thing. This house’s plumbing was really quite atrocious. The original bathroom plumbing had no vent at all, and the basement has a seperate stack from the kitchen (also no vent here) that runs down into the basement floor and over to the main sewer line. It’s such a lovely setup.

And now that I’m 23 weeks along lovely braxton-hicks contractions have started up - hurray. It wouldn’t be so bad except that I also have an upset stomach (still) and a backache and my lovely braxton-hicks HURT. This better not keep up for three more months.

I didn’t get too much writing or coding done today, although I did break down and watch the zend framework webcast - their continual touting of “extreme simplicity” without explaining exactly what they MEAN by that was dang annoying. In addition it’s almost the second week of January and still no real information is out… Still feels like vaporware - I dont’ know, I still think it would be smarter to pull in the “php community” - right now zend seems to be pandering to the big companies who managed to get involved and shutting the little guy out - not a smart thing to do in open source (witness joomla/mambo and that mess)
